Cancellation & Refund Policy

1. Company Identity

SportStake is a registered trade name (“DBA”) of Rakota Inc, a Delaware corporation (“Rakota,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Cancellation & Refund Policy governs all deposits, contest entries, promotional credits, and account balances associated with the Platform. This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of the Terms of Service and Contest Rules.

2. General Policy Overview

All entry fees are final once a contest reaches Lock Time, except in the limited circumstances described below. Refunds are not provided for:

  • Voluntary user dissatisfaction
  • Incorrect lineup selections
  • Athlete injury or underperformance
  • User misunderstanding of scoring rules

Refunds are provided only in accordance with this Policy or where required by law.

3. Entry Cancellation Before Lock

Users may cancel entries only under the conditions set out below.

3.1 User-Initiated Cancellation

Users may cancel an entry only if: The contest has not reached Lock Time; and The Platform provides cancellation functionality; and The entry has not been modified after submission (where applicable). If successfully canceled prior to Lock Time: The entry fee will be returned to the user’s account balance. No processing fee will be charged. Once Lock Time occurs, entries are final and non-cancelable.

4. Push-Related Voids and Minimum Leg Requirement

If a lineup is reduced below the minimum two (2) valid leg requirement due to a Push (as defined in Contest Rules): The lineup will be voided. The full entry fee will be refunded to the user’s account balance. No payout will be issued. This refund occurs automatically during contest settlement.

5. Company-Initiated Contest Cancellation

Rakota Inc reserves the right to cancel or void contests in circumstances including, but not limited to:

  • Technical malfunction
  • Data feed corruption
  • Scoring errors
  • Incorrect payout display
  • Fraud detection
  • Regulatory directive
  • Force majeure events
  • Insufficient participant threshold (if disclosed)

If a contest is canceled before Lock Time: All entry fees will be refunded. If canceled after Lock Time but before settlement: Entry fees will be refunded unless otherwise disclosed. Refunds will be credited to user account balances.

6. Event Postponement or Cancellation

If a sporting event is: Postponed beyond a reasonable timeframe; Suspended and not resumed; or Officially canceled — Rakota Inc may, at its discretion: Void affected contests, refund entry fees, apply partial scoring, or extend settlement. Refund decisions will prioritize fairness and uniform treatment of users.

7. Deposits and Payment Refunds

The following rules apply to refunds of deposits and used funds.

7.1 Deposit Refund Eligibility

A user may request a refund of deposited funds only if: The funds have not been used to enter any contests; No bonuses have been applied; The deposit is not under fraud investigation; Payment processor rules permit reversal. Approved deposit refunds will be returned to the original funding source.

7.2 Used Funds

Funds that have been used to enter contests are not refundable, except where required under this Policy.

8. Withdrawal Reversals

If a withdrawal request is submitted: It may not be canceled once processing begins. Processing times depend on payment processors and compliance review. Rakota Inc may reverse or delay withdrawals if: Fraud indicators are detected; Identity verification is incomplete; Chargeback risk exists; or Regulatory obligations require review.

9. Promotional Credits

Promotional credits:

  • Are not withdrawable
  • May expire
  • May be restricted to specific contests
  • Have no cash value unless expressly stated

If a contest entered with promotional credits is canceled: Credits may be restored at the Company’s discretion. Promotional credits are not refundable for cash.

10. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

If a user initiates a chargeback or payment dispute: The associated account may be suspended immediately. Any winnings derived from the disputed funds may be voided. Withdrawal privileges may be revoked. Rakota Inc reserves the right to recover losses associated with fraudulent chargebacks. Accounts under payment dispute investigation are not eligible for refunds or withdrawals until resolution.

11. Dormant Account Fee Refunds

Inactivity fees (as described in the Terms of Service): Are deducted only from dormant account balances. Are not charged to external payment methods. If an inactivity fee was applied in error: The fee will be restored upon review. Dormancy fees are not refundable where properly applied in accordance with the Terms.

12. Fraud, Abuse, and Misconduct

Refunds will not be issued where:

  • The user violated Terms of Service
  • The user engaged in collusion
  • The user used automation or prohibited tools
  • The user attempted to exploit system errors

Rakota Inc reserves the right to: Void entries, confiscate winnings, and offset refunds against account liabilities.

13. Processing of Refunds

All refunds are:

  • Issued to the user’s account balance unless otherwise required
  • Subject to compliance verification
  • Processed within a commercially reasonable timeframe

Where required by payment processor rules, refunds may be returned to the original payment method. Rakota Inc is not responsible for delays caused by: Banks, payment processors, or network outages.

14. Unclaimed Refunds and Escheatment

Refunded balances that remain unclaimed may become subject to state unclaimed property laws. If required by law: Funds may be remitted to the appropriate state authority. Users must claim such funds directly from that authority. Rakota Inc complies with applicable escheatment statutes.

15. Dispute Window

Refund disputes must be submitted within: 72 hours of contest settlement; or 30 days of a deposit transaction. Failure to submit timely disputes may result in waiver of refund claims.

16. Regulatory Compliance

Rakota Inc may modify this Policy as necessary to comply with: State regulations, payment processor requirements, and legal directives. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of modifications.

17. Limitation of Liability

Rakota Inc’s total liability regarding refunds shall not exceed: The amount of the entry fee or deposit at issue. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages related to refund decisions.
